About

Ballroom Project is a unique creative and commercial platform that brings together galleries and artists from around the world. Unlike traditional art fairs, the project works with a dedicated curator to create an exhibition concept based on submissions from participating galleries. The project also wishes to foster a sense of community and collaboration within the art world by connecting national and international galleries with artists, ensuring that every artwork is presented in the best possible light.

For this year’s edition of Ballroom Project, the rules of the game have changed a bit. Participating galleries will have the chance to show a solo or duo presentation by their artists, without limitations in terms of works. The positioning of the galleries in the fair venue then invites their presentations to communicate with one another. Participants will provide a museum-like setting where the artworks will come into their own. This year’s curator, Pieter Vermeulen, has further tailored the fair to the specific dynamics of the exhibition space, creating an immersive and engaging experience for visitors while extending the reach to a wider audience.

Ballroom Project is an exciting and innovative platform that has, over the years, become a must-see event for art lovers in Antwerp and beyond, introducing visitors to new and exciting artists and galleries from across the globe. Whether you are an art lover or an art professional, Ballroom Project provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of contemporary art.

This year’s edition of Ballroom Project will take place during the Antwerp Art Weekend from 16-19 May 2024 in the former courthouse of Borgerhout. The venue has an elegant, homely and open character, making it the perfect location to enter into a dialogue with the wonders of the art world. Ballroom Project is initiated by local players Base-Alpha Gallery and DMW Gallery, two galleries with strong ties to the Antwerp art scene.
