Tom Poelmans

Tom Poelmans (born 1984, Belgium, lives and works in Antwerp) associates his plastic wanderings with a childish nostalgia, to give birth to these works combining the most subtle finds from the art of the past with the less creative recipes of our contemporary cultures. Anyone who visits Poelmans’ studio will be struck by the peaceful coexistence of reproductions of masterpieces of Western art, with hundreds of Disney or Marvel plastic figurines, an unlikely mixture of scholarly and popular testimonies of the survival of the mythical struggle of good and evil.
